Sangram Singh – world wrestling champion, reality television star, Bollywood actor, all-around superstar. Undoubtedly, one of the biggest and most inspirational international celebrities in the world. But few are aware of the hurdles he had to overcome to get where he is now, having faced hardships not only inside but outside the ring.
Born in a village in Rohtak, Sangram Singh suffered an accident during childhood which led to a critical juncture in his life. After doctors had given up on saving his life, he prevailed of his own volition. Certainly, overcoming paralysis was indicative of the fighter he would become later on in WWP. Beginning his prodigious athletic career in Greco-Roman wrestling, he would rack up multiple achievements.
Then, at a young age, he decided to fulfill his lifelong dream and become a professional wrestler. World Wrestling Professionals, the biggest promotion in the Southern Hemisphere, was the perfect habitat for such a promising and competitive superstar. Airing television shows and holding live events across the world, World Wrestling Professionals was and still is the grandest stage in wrestling.
The impact of Sangram Singh’s ring presence in WWP was felt immediately. Skilled with a style both unique and dangerous, combining his Greco-Roman know-how with the foundations of pro wrestling, he picked up win after win. And it was also due to his unmatched fighting spirit, as all he had suffered through in his life had built him into what he was and is now.
For his outstanding achievements in professional wrestling, Sangram Singh was voted the “World’s Best Professional Wrestler”, an award bestowed upon the galiant superstar by WWP. But a threat looms on the horizon. Now that Sangram has won such a prestigious award and proven himself to be the ace of pro wrestling, he now faces aggressors from all corners and all walks of life. The biggest and baddest are coming out to take Sangram’s spot. They want what is his.
At the end of December 2013, Sangram is scheduled to come out of the Bigg Boss 7 house, where he will then get a chance to train for his upcoming match, because in February 2014, Sangram Singh will be fighting in the main event at the WWP Wrestling Festival to be held in India. And it’s going to be a big one.
With his opponent to be named soon, some hints have been made public. So far it’s only known that Sangram Singh will be facing a top international wrestling superstar, someone who has taken the world by storm just as he has, someone who can go head-to-head with the best. What is already being spoken of as a dream match by management will be one for the ages.
In addition, Sangram Singh will be resuming his Bollywood career when he plays the lead role in an upcoming autobiographical movie charting the legacy of late wrestler and Bollywood actor Dara Singh, who was one of the greatest Indian wrestlers in history. The makers of the biopic believed only a real-life wrestler would do the part justice.
With Sangram sharing so many traits with the legend, this made for a perfect casting, and one that will certainly honour the life of Dara Singh. Both have been graced with World Championship gold and are idolised by the masses. For this generation and ones to come, Sangram Singh will be the living embodiment of the “Nothing is impossible” mantra.
